Australia’s capital cities are filled with artistic opportunities and communities, but what about those who grew up in our working class suburbs where access to the city was physically difficult, and artistic pathways were often unseen? These artists grew up in the sprawling suburbs of Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, and now have careers built within the cities. But what did the city look like from the outside? How do you find your way in, how do you catch up on cultural capital? And what does it mean to look back towards the suburbs when you find yourself operating in the centre?
